Flying with Infants by Aeromexico


In Aeromexico (Mexico), infants and minors are taken special care of.

In Aeromexico (Mexico) it is considered an infant any boy or girl who is under 2 years of age at the moment the flight begins and who will not occupy their own seat but will travel with an adult.

There are certain regulations that must be complied with, for the infant’s safetywhen you are travelling with infants by Aeromexico:

1-      Infants cannot travel alone. They must always be accompanied by an adult.
2-      The ticket of an infant is always issued to the final destination either one-way or round trip, and will include connections.
3-      The adult flying with an infant will be required to present the infant’s birth certificate or passport to verify the infant’s age.
4-      For passengers who travel with more than one infant the following rates will apply:
·         $174 for flight to/from Mexico (taxes included)
·         US$35 for flights to/from the United States (taxes included)
·         10% for flights to/from South America, Asia and Europe (taxes included)

5-      Also, an infant ticketing charge of US$15 will apply as service fee.

Taking into account that infants generally make use of strollers, baby carriers and bassinets; Aeromexico has included the benefit of allowing passengers flying with infants transport one of these items without charge. Said item must weight 44 pound (20kilos) maximum and be 45 inches (1.14 meters) long maximum.

In Aeromexico (Mexico) it is considered a minor a boy or a girl who is between 5 and 14 years of age. Unaccompanied Minors will be accepted in Aeromexico on direct flights and connecting flights including Codeshare flights, except connections involving a different airport.

Aeromexico’s Unaccompanied Minor Service includes supporting the minor at the check-in counters; driving him/her to the departure lounge; taking care of him/her before boarding and during the flight; coordinating with the Flight Attendants before and during the boarding process; guiding and taking care of the minor during connections and handing him/her over to the responsible person at destination.

Certain regulations and traveling requirements apply for US citizens flying to/from Mexico:

-          It is not required to present a permission or authorization of minors’ parents or guardians.
-          At the time of check-in of the minor, the adult handing over him / her at the airport must present a valid official ID (it can be a voting card or passport).
-          The adult receiving the minor at the destination airport must present a valid official ID.
-          At destination, the minor’s delivery will take place in the arrival areas of the domestic or international arrival area depending on the origin of the flight.

Traveling Requirements:

-          Children under 3 years old must travel accompanied by an adult aged 18 or more.
-          Minors between 3 and 5 years old must travel accompanied by an adult or a traveling companion over 13 years old.
-          Minors between 5 and 14 years old can travel with an adult or under the Unaccompanied Minor Service previously mentioned.
-          Minors between 14 and 18 years old can travel with an adult or under the OPTIONAL Unaccompanied Minor Service previously mentioned.
