Pet in Cabin in Aeromexico Flights

Pets are, generally, one more member of our family; our pets are for us creatures that we love and take care of as if they were children. And sometimes, when we travel we need or want to take them with us.

One of the reasons why Aeromexico is the first and most important airline in Mexico is its concern with its customers. In Aeromexico our comfort and tranquility as passengers are a priority. And that’s why in Aeromexico (Mexico) we can board the plane carrying our four-legged child with us.

There are, of course, certain regulations and limitations to guarantee your pet’s safety and other passengers’ comfort. Take into account the following tips and enjoy transporting your Pet in Cabin in Aeromexico flights!

In Aeromexico (Mexico) you can carry dogs of up to 7 kilos on the E-145 aircrafts and of up to 9 kilos on the E-170; E-190 and B-737’s crafts. Your pet has to travel comfortably in a firm cage with reinforced plastic and a one piece interior base of some absorbent material. The cage must contain a metal door with latches to open and close, and ventilation on both sides so that your little friend can breathe and move freely. Please, take into account that the total weight of the dog includes the cage dimensions.

For your pet no to get so nervous and tired, the flight can be 5 hours maximum. Also, in order to preserve your dog’s and other passengers’ health, pets under veterinary treatment or younger than 8 weeks are not permitted in Aeromexico (Mexico) flights.

When you arrive at the airport before departing remember to:

-          Present your dog for the inspection by the Health Department and/or the airport authorities.

-          Bring with you your pet’s vaccination certificate against rabies.  Said certificate must have been issued within the 30 days previous to the date of your flight.

-          Hand in the veterinary certificate issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fishing and Food (SAGARPA). Please, do not forget it because its formality is considered your responsibility.

For your own comfort and that of your pet, you can transport maximum one dog. Also, unaccompanied minors with pets are not permitted.

Passengers carrying their pets will have access to Premier Lounges Boarding Gates (SUE).  Please remember that your pet must be in its cage before boarding and when entering the aircraft’s cabin.

Of course flying may scare your pet. For that reason, you will keep your pet under the seat in front of you and in the cage; so that s/he can see you and feel more comfortable and secure.

It is not allowed to feed your dog or give him/her beverages during the trip because s/he may feel sick.

-          Service Animals as well as Emotional Support Animals are exempt from these norms.

-          Pets that do not comply with the requisites to be accepted as Pets in Cabin can be transported as Checked Baggage (AVIH) or through Aeromexico Cargo.

New Secure Flight Regulations for Flights to and from the US by Aeromexico

For Aeromexico (Mexico) passengers are the most important assets on the plane. That is why taking enough care of them to ensure a safe and comfortable trip is a priority. For that reason, following the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), Aeromexico (Mexico) has implemented the new compulsory regulations for air travelers to and from the United States of America.

The new requirements establish that air travelers to and from North and South America, the Caribbean, Bermuda and all adjacent islands must  present a valid passport or other accepted document which establishes the passenger’s identity and nationality in order to enter or re-enter the United States.

·         Travelers from the United States must submit a valid US passport; a Nexus Card and a US Government issued Transportation Letter. The Nexus Card will be valid only at the appointed Nexus locations. Certain exceptions may apply:

-          US citizen military personnel on duty possessing an official travel order and a valid military ID.

-          US citizen merchant mariners possessing a US Merchant Mariner Card that ensures US citizenship.

·         US residents must submit a valid Passport; a Permanent Resident Card (Form I-551); a Temporary Resident Stamp (in the passport or on the Form I-94); a Reentry Permit (Form I-327) and a Refugee Travel Document (Form I-571). Certain exceptions may apply:

-          Alien members of the US Armed Forces possessing official orders and military identification card.

·         Visitors must present a valid passport although certain exceptions may apply:

-          Emergency Travel Document: This special document may have the form of an original passport booklet or a single document on foreign consulate letterhead. It is issued either by a foreign Embassy or Consulate specifically for the purpose of travelling to the bearer’s country of origin. It generally has a maximum validity of a year and states a limited number of entries.

Please, to avoid inconveniencies when boarding your plane, take into account that the following documentation is NOT considered valid to enter into or leave the United States by air:

-          National Identity Cards.

-           Certificates of Naturalization.

-          Certificates of Citizenship.

-          Other civil identity or vital statistics documents.

The New Secure Flight Regulations for Flights to and from the US by Aeromexico, in compliance with the Transportation Security Administration of the United States, requires that passengers making reservations for flights to and from the US present the following mandatory information at least four days prior to their flight: full passenger’s name as it appears on the passport, gender and date of birth. Failure or denial to provide this information may result in denial of authority to enter the boarding area or denial of transport.

Also, by order of the Department of Homeland security Transportation passengers flying to or from the US may carry with them: liquids gels and aerosols in containers of up to 3oz/90ml: prescription or non-prescription medication; baby formula/milk and baby food in clear plastic, re-sealable quart-size zip-top bags. If the above mentioned items are not properly packaged they must undergo screening at the security check-point.

Flying with Infants by Aeromexico

In Aeromexico (Mexico), infants and minors are taken special care of.

In Aeromexico (Mexico) it is considered an infant any boy or girl who is under 2 years of age at the moment the flight begins and who will not occupy their own seat but will travel with an adult.

There are certain regulations that must be complied with, for the infant’s safetywhen you are travelling with infants by Aeromexico:

1-      Infants cannot travel alone. They must always be accompanied by an adult.

2-      The ticket of an infant is always issued to the final destination either one-way or round trip, and will include connections.

3-      The adult flying with an infant will be required to present the infant’s birth certificate or passport to verify the infant’s age.

4-      For passengers who travel with more than one infant the following rates will apply:

·         $174 for flight to/from Mexico (taxes included)

·         US$35 for flights to/from the United States (taxes included)

·         10% for flights to/from South America, Asia and Europe (taxes included)

5-      Also, an infant ticketing charge of US$15 will apply as service fee.

Taking into account that infants generally make use of strollers, baby carriers and bassinets; Aeromexico has included the benefit of allowing passengers flying with infants transport one of these items without charge. Said item must weight 44 pound (20kilos) maximum and be 45 inches (1.14 meters) long maximum.

In Aeromexico (Mexico) it is considered a minor a boy or a girl who is between 5 and 14 years of age. Unaccompanied Minors will be accepted in Aeromexico on direct flights and connecting flights including Codeshare flights, except connections involving a different airport.

Aeromexico’s Unaccompanied Minor Service includes supporting the minor at the check-in counters; driving him/her to the departure lounge; taking care of him/her before boarding and during the flight; coordinating with the Flight Attendants before and during the boarding process; guiding and taking care of the minor during connections and handing him/her over to the responsible person at destination.

Certain regulations and traveling requirements apply for US citizens flying to/from Mexico:

-          It is not required to present a permission or authorization of minors’ parents or guardians.

-          At the time of check-in of the minor, the adult handing over him / her at the airport must present a valid official ID (it can be a voting card or passport).

-          The adult receiving the minor at the destination airport must present a valid official ID.

-          At destination, the minor’s delivery will take place in the arrival areas of the domestic or international arrival area depending on the origin of the flight.

Traveling Requirements:

-          Children under 3 years old must travel accompanied by an adult aged 18 or more.

-          Minors between 3 and 5 years old must travel accompanied by an adult or a traveling companion over 13 years old.

-          Minors between 5 and 14 years old can travel with an adult or under the Unaccompanied Minor Service previously mentioned.

-          Minors between 14 and 18 years old can travel with an adult or under the OPTIONAL Unaccompanied Minor Service previously mentioned.
